Curly, grey, dry or damaged hair?
Dry hair can be a tricky balance. Increased tangles, breakages and flyaways can sometimes leave you feeling like giving up on long, luscious locks and just chopping it all off!
In fact, I lived with short hair for years, not really understanding that a simple change to my cleansing routine would change everything for my unruly, thin, curly hair.
Now people frequently comment on my 'perfect curls' and well, quite honestly I do look in the mirror occasionally and say to myself 'people use a curling wand or even pay a hairdresser to achieve curls like these' (and I barely touch styling products these days).
After discovering NueBar a few years ago, I tried the co-wash method by dropping the shampoo to every-other-wash, and nourishing my hair with conditioner only most washes. As a result the natural oils in my hair have the opportunity to work further down the coil, strengthening the hair shaft, rather than shampooing away the natural oils every wash.
I also avoid heat styling as much as possible. I am that client of the hair dresser that asks to drip dry, rather than blow wave after my cut and colour.
While it took a little while to adopt a new way of washing my hair (and to rid my hair from silicone styling product build up), I grew a little braver and grew my hair to my shoulders. Now I have lovely long, sculpted curls ... every day! Occasionally I add a tiny amount of silicone free product to the ends to help keep them defined, especially on rainy, misty or windy days.
